University of Michigan will add stadium lights to the Big House at a cost of $1.8 million. This will enable them to finally play night games and even add to the dark days of Michigan weather on a more consistent basis.
The first night game at Michigan Stadium will be September 10, 2011 against the University of Notre Dame. As for 2010, the lights are expected to be ready for the "Big Chill at the Big House" when the Wolverines play the Spartans in college hockey on December 11.
U of M has been using temporary lighting up until now, which can run a pretty hefty price tag, don't look great, and for stadium operators - the controls aren't easy and accessibly.Share
