The Los Angeles Dodgers transferred Brusdar Graterol to the 60-day injured list on Tuesday as a corresponding move to acquiring Nick Ramirez in a trade with the New York Yankees. Ramirez was acquired in exchange for cash considerations.

Graterol began the season on the 15-day injured list because of right shoulder inflammation. He dealt with the injury during Spring Training and believed it stemmed from experiencing some left hip trouble.

Graterol appeared in just one Cactus League game, throwing one scoreless inning on March 2.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts expressed hope that while Graterol would not be on the Opening Day roster for the Seoul Series, that he would be recovered in time for the Dodger Stadium opener.

However, that possibility was ruled out when the Dodgers placed Graterol on the 15-day IL as part of setting their Opening Day roster.

When discussing Graterol and Blake Treinen last week, Roberts said both relief pitchers were throwing from flat ground and hadn’t yet advanced to pitching off a mound.

“So we’re still a ways away for both guys,” Roberts added.

Without Graterol, the backend of the Dodgers bullpen primarily consists of Ryan Brasier, Daniel Hudson and Evan Phillips. Though, Brasier worked as an opener Tuesday for his second career start.

When can Brusdar Graterol return?

Now on the 60-day IL, the earliest date Graterol can be activated to join the Dodgers roster is Monday, May 20. That’s a similar timeline as Emmet Sheehan, who was transferred to the 60-day IL at the beginning of the week and is eligible to be reinstated May 18.

The Dodgers remain hopeful Treinen will return from a bruised lung within the next few weeks.
