George Springer Has Had a Productive September

While we don’t usually see a lot of inside-park-home runs, Springer actually hit a couple of them when he played for the Houston Astros. What’s ironic is one he hit in 2020 was when he was playing against Daulton Varsho when he played for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Aside from home runs, Springer has been playing well in the month of September. He hit his 21st homer on Sunday afternoon and has been sound against the Rays, recording 6 RBI in the series. Springer joins teammate Vladimir Guerrero Jr. who has also turned things around offensively for the Jays in September.

Springer is also one of three players on the team that has reached the 20 or more-home run mark. Vladdy (26) and Bo Bichette (20). In the series against the New York Yankees, Springer was also productive, getting a home run and 5 hits. Aside from his offense, Springer’s defense in the outfield has been solid all season long. Springer has made many impressive diving catches, and his speed and aggressiveness speaks for itself. In the outfield this season, he has yet to commit an error. The efforts he has made defensively this season are memorable. This is due to the fact that he uses great extension to fully grab the ball while he makes a running dive.

Congratulations to George Springer. He’s provided an energetic September to a Blue Jays team that at one point looked like they were slipping out of a postseason spot. Many of their regular stars have had their offensive slumps this season, and we’ve been waiting for them to come out with a bang. September has brought positive glances of offense from the regulars, and we hope that it continues into October baseball. Springer has always played with a lot of high-sprung energy. This is energy that the team need as they continue to battle in the American League Wild Card Standings. The Jays are set to return home to play the Yankees on September 26th.
