Klay Thompson ’s future with the Golden State Warriors appears to be over, with many uncertainties regarding his future with the Dubs. Regarding his future, head coach Steve Kerr confirmed via the media on Tuesday that he would like to see Thompson back with the team next season.
Coach Steve Kerr believes Klay Thompson still has what to offer to the franchise and can still compete at the highest level. He made this known during the post-game press conference following the Warriors elimination at the hands of the Sacramento Kings.
We need Klay back. I know he had a tough night tonight. What he represents for us, the spacing, we’re not a deep shooting team… He’s still got good years left. I know I speak for everyone in the organization; we want him back. Obviously, there’s business at hand. That has to be addressed with Klay’s representatives, Mike and Joe. What Klay has meant to this franchise, as good as he still is, we desperately want him back. Coach Steve Kerr said

The veteran had a tough night against the Kings, where he shot 0 of 10 and ended up with just four rebounds and a solitary assist to his name. The game against the Kings summed up his season, which had been marred with inconsistencies and led to him being benched for the first time since his rookie year.
He once spoke about his desire to remain with his beloved team while at the same time protecting his sanity. However, he can still compete, as this season had been a tough one for the Dubs in general, and they’d need some serious rebuilding come the off-season.
Klay Thompson had time to reflect on what’s next for him after what appeared like his last game with the Golden State Warriors and according to him, he still has a lot of time before he reaches free agency. While he hasn’t thought about where he would most likely end up, his coach and fellow Splash Bros still want him around.
The show of support seems to have moved him and he spoke to the media about it.
It means a lot. I mean, we've been through the highest of highs and lows. Whether it's losing a championship, winning a championship, missing the playoffs, we've been through everything together, so that does mean a lot. It makes me grateful to have the times I've had with them. Like, that was pretty historic stuff. Klay Thompson said

“What’s up with y’all not wanting to live in the present? Ridiculous.”
“Well, considering it’s April 17th, I don’t have to pivot that quickly. When’s free agency? July 1st? I got some time.” pic.twitter.com/G7FFlefdnL
It had been reported that Thompson values winning more than the monetary compensation and whether he stays with the Warriors or not is up to his agents and the organization. He finished the regular season with averages of 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists.
