At Brighton Resort in Utah, there are no signs of spring, as their ski patrol still has to do avalanche control due to the sheer amount of show seen at the resort.

"Our ski patrol digging out the propane cache for our gazex system, [Peter's] hand is reaching to almost 9 feet right there!" See below.

Gazex systems help with avalanche testing, using compressed gasses to trigger a slide. The system is triggered remotely, making it safer than systems requiring patrol to stand near the blasts. It is also better for the environment, as it leaves no waste behind on the mountain when the test concludes.

Watch a short video detailing how Gazex systems work below.

Officials at Brighton write, "we’re currently at 554 inches of snow, what total do you think we’ll end at for the season?"

Given the forecast, probably more than 554. Brighton is forecast to see more snow today, Wednesday, and Friday, with clear skies the rest of this week.

Today, Alta is predicted to see 11 inches of fresh powder, and the cold temps the rest of this week should help retain that depth. Alta has a base depth of 157 inches and has received 613 inches of snow this season (including 2 inches in the last 12 hours).

Snowbird saw 1 inch overnight and has a base depth of 135 inches. The resort has seen 548 inches this year to date, and is forecast to see snow showers today (with a daytime accumulation of 10 to 16 inches) and tonight (with a possible accumulation of 3 to 7 inches).

Solitude is also receiving snow today, and got an inch over the last two days. They have seen 526 inches of snow this season and have a base depth of 99 inches.

Solitude's daily message included a joke about tax day, saying, "it’s a Utah tradition – the Tax Day Storm! For reasons not entirely clear, Utah usually gets fresh snow on April 15, and this year is no exception. If you want to ski but still need to do your taxes, you may need to file electronically from the chairlift. 4 to 6 inches are anticipated today, on top of the inch we received overnight."
