‘as far as i know…’: Romano opens up on Tottenham links with 23-year-old La Liga ace

Sevilla defender Loic Bade has recently been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The defender recently revealed that it is an honour for him to be linked with big clubs like Tottenham but he is focused on performing well for the Spanish club now.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now opened up on the links with the 23-year-old defender.

Romano claims that Tottenham have never held talks to sign Bade and they are unlikely to move for him in the future.

The journalist said on The Daily Briefing: “Loic Bade could leave in the summer, it’s a possibility with a good proposal. Tottenham never opened talks for him in January, as far as I know; also they signed Radu Dragusin and they trust him for the future, so there’s no movement so far, that’s my understanding.”

The North London club have already signed Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin this season. They have a quality defensive unit at their disposal and they have talented young defenders like Ashley Phillips at the club as well.

It would be quite surprising if they decided to bring in another established defender at the end of the season. Bade is unlikely to get regular game time at Tottenham if he joins the club and therefore the move would not make sense for the player as well.

The 23-year-old needs to play regularly at this stage of his career and he should look to join a club where he will get ample game time.

As far as Tottenham are concerned, they should look to sign quality attackers and midfielders at the end of the season. They have the bones of a very good squad but Ange Postecoglou needs to add more depth to his side if Spurs want to compete for major trophies next season.

They are currently pushing for UEFA Champions League qualification. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can finish in the top four and return to the Champions League.

As far as Bade is concerned, the 23-year-old defender will look to impress at Sevilla between now and the end of the season. It will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually.
