'The boy wants to stop' – Sheffield United boss reveals striker’s wishes

Just days ago, fresh news broke regarding Daniel Jebbison’s contract situation at Sheffield United.

A report emerged from Alan Nixon stating the promising 20-year-old forward is refusing to sign a new contract with the Blades and the Canadian-born player was aiming for a Premier League move when his current deal expires in the summer.

However, Chris Wilder has debunked Nixon’s report as he told The Star: “There has been real positive talks between Steve Bettis, his representative, his family and me – I have been involved in that as well.”

During the 2023/24 season, the 20-year-old player hasn’t been able to participate in any competitive matches for Sheffield United due to a combination of injury and illness.

Jebbison, who was a fringe player under Paul Heckingbottom’s management, witnessed the team’s successful journey to secure automatic promotion from the Championship last season. It marked his debut campaign within the first-team squad as a young player. He contributed with a goal and an assist last term.

Sheffield United to tie Jebbison down to a new deal

Since Wilder has returned to the club the Blades have managed to tie down several youngsters to long-term deals: including the likes of Will Osula, Oli Arblaster and Andre Brooks. Jebbison has been a priority but no deal has been confirmed yet. But Wilder’s latest comments sounds promising.

“I know the boy wants to stop, he has never given any other indication to me and his family hasn’t said that he wants to move away. And we’ll be delighted if we can tie another of our promising youngsters up.”
